GRAB SOME OF THESE….
Super comfy knotted hair ties…..the best thing about them, they don’t leave that annoying crease in your hair….you know the one..the “pony tail crease”….I wear them when I workout too and they stay put! The Blue Elephant Boutique is the only place that I’ve been able to find them here in Austin. Love ’em!
This weekend was a busy one….we like it like that….it included our 1st Crawfish Boil of the season! Dave’s co-worker, Jack hosts an annual boil and it was full of spicy Cajun food…..mmmmmmmm
Mud-bugs & fixins
Sangria in full affect 😉
This little lady was stylish….colored denim
And of course there was a mini project thrown into the mix of our weekend….inspired by chocolate covered cheerios sold @ Trader Joes
(P.S. Austin is getting one!!!)
So simple to make, just dip em in your favorite topping~ powdered sugar, choc. of choice, top with sprinkles to add some color….but beware, it’s a little time consuming.
I served them as party favors for Dave’s 30th b-day brunch with the family on Sunday…they were a hit with the kiddos!
Brunch was yummy ~ Jack Allen’s Kitchen
These silver dollar pancakes were on the top of the list

It’s always nice to get together
Hope your weekend was SWELL!
As mentioned in yesterday’s post, our Valentine’s Day was a good one! We were able to relax and enjoy our time together. Dave always says how much Valentine’s Day is such a woman’s day so I wanted to make it extra special (& also cheesy 😀 ) for him.
I wrote little love notes and posted them in various places in our apt, at Dave’s eye-level of course
I wasn’t sure what to get Dave until I remembered our plans to go fishing on the coast in March for his birthday, so…..he stumbled upon this in his truck on Valentine’s Day morning and his vote’s in…..2 thumbs UP 😀 (it’s a tackle box with some tackle)
I really enjoyed creating the love notes and surprising Dave!
OOOOOHHHH WAIT! I almost forgot the funniest part of the surprise….so Dave recently purchased some new hiking boots and decided he wanted some different laces for them, so I found a pair for him and made a cheesy note to go with it, BUT
………Abbey (this girl)
got her paws on his laces and chewed them up 😦 we think she was jealous because she’s all “tied” up in Dave’s love and that’s the only way she wants it……but she’s so cute so we laughed it off (the laces were like 2 bucks) and we will just have to get him another pair and keep them out of her sight.
David was very sweet to me and came by my office to surprise me with a unique arrangement of flowers….not the usual rose!
We ended our V-day with a lovely antipasto spread and took some silly pics goofing around…..
thanks for stopping by to visit our blog!!-xoxo
Dark chocolate is my favorite, then when you use it to coat other yummies it even better. These days you can find just about anything covered in chocolate. I’ve been loving dark choc. covered blueberries and these too:
dark chocolate covered honeycomb…yes, honeycomb (aka “nectar of the gods”). I’ve never tried honeycomb sans dark chocolate but I have a feeling I’d love it, not to mention the claimed health benefits, including allergy relief!! I discovered these at Sprouts and I’m in need of more…..What do you like covered in chocolate??
Happy Birthday Dear Gwen, Tyler, Becca, Ethan, Lydia, Moi, Brian, Monique, Olga & anyone else I could’ve possibly missed….Happy Birthday to YOU!!!!!
As mentioned in an earlier post, I celebrated birthdays pretty much the entire month of January! It was a great time and always makes the first month of the year fly by. Here’s a summary and pics of some of the birthday celebrations.
First up, on 1/2/12 was Gwen (mom-in-law) and Tyler’s (a great friend) birthday. We celebrated with Gwen at Fuddrucker’s with Mike, Heather and their 3 boys. I was getting over bronchitis and didn’t think to take any pics. We had a good time and Gwen loved her beautiful flowers and framed photo! As for Tyler, we didn’t get to celebrate together since she lives in Dallas but we wished her a Happy Birthday!
Next up on 1/4/12 was Becca’s (another good friend) and she lives in Lubbock, so we wished her a Happy Birthday too!
I have to mention that 1/5/12 was Tyler and Blake’s anniversary.
Lydia (best friend Bonnie’s mom) and Ethan (one of our nephews) had a birthday on 1/11/12. We wished Lydia a Happy Birthday, she lives in Del Rio! Heather and Mike threw Ethan an awesome “Car’s” themed party equipped with a retro slotcar racing track.
Here’s the adorable & delicious, made from scratch cake Heather created for Ethan:

Then there was my birthday on 1/12/12, we celebrated at Parkside Restaurant. We started with a tasty drink and some oysters:
I had the wreckfish for my entree, sadly the fish was WAAAAY over cooked (and Dave’s scallops too 😦 ….I wasn’t in the mood to complain, everything else was very good, like this mac & cheese with gruyere and cheddar:

We listened to live music around the corner at One 2 One
Next it was Brian (my bestie in Lubbock) and Monique (another good friend) on 1/24/12. Monique celebrated her birthday at a Jazzercise session, I had a lot of fun and plan on doing some more Jazzercise in the future with Monique!

The final birthday celebration of January was Olga’s on 1/28/12. We started the night with a little wine & dessert shindig at her place and then downtown.
